A tongue twister title, new age romance and live setting: Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is a great idea of spending the love month with a few well placed humor.
Best Friend vs wife:
If you have dostana relationship with your best friend and have often been the judge (and the loser) to his/her never ending fight with your beau; then my dear friend, this Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is just for you. So for the benefit of the two people who form the core part of your life: Book your ticket now! (And make them realise how much their cat fights and jealousy are a natural part of their bonhomie with you).
The Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety explores parallelism between the bromance and the romance. Taking flight out of the traditional Bollywood approach and lending it a new angle: best friends (forever and beyond).
Sonu and his best friend: Titu are friends from their childhood. Enter sweety and poor Sonu loses his sorry friend on this stunner. This causes all sirens to sound in poor Sonu’s mind. Hence bestie Sonu is there to protect his friend from this innocent looking lady. From picking small faults in the lady (who appears to be the perfect bahu), Sonu aims to keep his friend away from the scheming lady. This causes fight between the beloved and the best buddy. The conflict soon reaches volcanic heights and molten lava consumes the love story of the lovebirds. To find out more, grab a seat for trio, now!
Titu is enacted by Sunny Singh and Nushrat Bharucha is his ladylove “Sweety”. Kartik Aaryan is the chuddy buddy: Sonu.
“Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety” was scheduled to be in theatres on 3 November, 2017. The dates were then shifted to accommodate Deepika Padukone starrer: Padmavat and Akshay Kumar lead: Padman. Then in a major move, the new dates were shifted to one week post valentine i.e. 23 February of this year.
Exploring the romcom genre, director: Luv Ranjan has been instrumental in delivering relatable Indian stories. The director and the lead pair have been together during following movies:
- Pyaar ka punchnama
- Aakash Vani
- Pyaar ka punchnama: 2
The director captures the nuances of Delhi to perfection. Being a common and fair playing field, Delhi fans aspirations while adding homeward charisma. The filmmaker is himself a delhite.
The love Debate:
Selection of people is not an easy thing to do. Each one fights for its rights (read fundamental ones) and causes nok jhok that go down well with family memories. Friends become the extended family yet remain the animal animulating behavior. The lighthearted and witty mannerism in the movie will make it a full paisa vasool entertainment.
So who will win in the end? The girl or the best friend? Before that let’s look at the blessings (that have been bestowed) that happen to us everyday. The movie also adds the arranged marriage tadka to the soup boy image of Titu.
